Cabal Online Episode 4 Trailer and Updates

ESTSoft today announced details of the latest free expansion for CABAL Online. Episode IV: Porta Inferno will be released this month for free download in Europe and the United States, expanding the level cap to 180, adding a brand new hunting region and introducing a range of stunning new skills. It will continue to build on the winning formula that has made the game a global success, with fast-paced action, a unique combo system and spectacular skill animations.

CABAL Episode IV will lead players through the portal to the gates of hell, transporting them to the edges of the world to a place inhabited by the deadliest and most vicious scourge. It will put them face to face with the strongest foes ever to grace the lands of Nevareth, with outdoor bosses and a series of challenges to overcome.

Other notable features of the expansion include:

* Increased level cap from 170 to 180.
* New Maps – Porta Inferno and Chaos Arena Level 6.
* New Quests.
* Revamped item upgrading system – Ability to upgrade equipment to +15, giving the item improved stats and appearance.
* Social Network Integration – Register and post tweets to a twitter account while inside the game.
* Expanded War System – All players above level 51 will now be able to participate in the nation war battles.

New Skills

Easy to find right now. There's an event going on for a week where you can get the new skills and such...although drop rate seems to be decent for them in PI anyway(already had a guildy get one while grinding )

Item Upgrades

I would recommend to just sell your cores unless you have hundreds and HUNDREDS of cores. I tried upgrading my suit with it starting at +8 with full Enhanced Cores and it went like this:

8-->9-->10-->9-->8-->7-->8-->7-->8-->9-->8

It seems that if you do NOT use Enhanced Cores, you will go down -2 if you fail...if you do use enhanced cores you will only go down -1. If you do a mix I imagine it would do either -2 or -1.

New Daily Quests

There is a variety of new Daily Quests for the new Porta Inferno Map you have a choice of which ones you want to do(can only pick one of each kind).

Chaos Arena 6

It's pretty nasty...not at all easy. Seems most of the mobs in there are ranged so you pretty much HAVE to kill every spawn before the next one or you are screwed. No cores or anything drops from the mobs...only alz. So if you don't beat it and get to the final chest you get no loot at all. The EXP is so so at the moment...since every single mob in there is ranged it's really hard to mob them up in a good group.

First Spawn: Chaotic Fallen Steed

Second Spawn: Chaotic Lizard Fish

Third Spawn: Chaotic Nadiell

Fourth Spawn: Chaotic Ariyak

Fifth Spawn: Chaotic Dark Archer

Sixth Spawn: Chaotic Ispita

Seventh Spawn: Chaotic Elder Demon

Eighth Spawn: Chaotic Dark Kimzark

Ninth Spawn: Chaotic Incubus

Tenth Spawn: Chaotic Nola Ispita

Final Boss: Chaotic Leth Tyrant

Random New BL Party buff and stats:

Porta Inferno
First thought....I LOVE THIS MAP!!!!!! The look of it is REALLY cool and there's dragons flying around in the sky. Rounding up 4-5 mobs at the very beginning gives the same exp(maybe a touch more) than mobbing up 10 mobs in the cornus area. As for bosses...they all require a party as the regen when not attacking is EXTREME!!! Such as l.....l that every 2 seconds or so. Drops seem to be mainly UCH/UCHH with the worst drop for me so far being a no slot Sig piece...that's right no force cores as of yet.
--Just a side note...bosses will not attack you until you attack them...except for the final one lol...

A cool looking statue thingy around Manticore:

Outside the center part of the map:

Manticore:

Dark Kimzark:

Grind Spots
I've only found 2 somewhat decent ones...the one farther in the pink area gives better exp if you hide behind one of the gates...it kind of acts like the Branny spot in MF except the mobs are more ranged...the spots I found to be okay are marked with the blue "X"

Epic Grind Spot
Found a pretty good grind spot where the mobs really come flowing from 2 different sides. The best exp is when you are solo...

Aika Sniper Skill Guide

The rifleman is a long ranged class in Aika that has one of the higher defense rating, and hp amounts. This lets you take more damage than average, and lets you get out of some sticky situations. It also has remarkable range which is useful since it gets you outside AOE range for bosses, and lets you attack from farther range in PvP. The damage is also very respectable in single target fights. Personally I have not lost a single one on one fight as long as I kept my head on straight. The one time I did lose I tried to be cute and let a warrior in to close while at half health. That said your only real enemies are warriors. Everything else is a free kill one on one. Just get the first attack in on a warrior and you will always win.

Rifleman Guide 1 to 30

This is a basic guide on how I thought skills were for both PvE and PvP. Also, a little bit on how to be a decent Rifleman so you can rack up a few kills.

Countdown: absolutely useless, don’t’ even waste a point on it. The damage does not scale well, and you have to wait 3 seconds for the full effect after a 1 second cast time. Rating: useless

Rupture: mediocre skill. I’m sure it can have some use, but just doesn’t work out that well. It will increase your damage to a target by about 25%. It can have its uses, but the mana cost to damage and debuff is just not worth it. Avoid it unless you have some surefire way to be useful. For those thinking about pure PvE having to recast it every 6 seconds eats though your mana real fast. Rating: 2 stars.

Hollow Point: Best skill for the rifleman.max it and make it your primary skill In PvE and PvP this skill is awesome. Capable of laying down some massive damage, and a relatively short cast time with no animation lag makes this an absolutely amazing skill. The only con to it is it is slightly expensive in mana, but not that much. Rating 4 stars.

Leg Shot: Great skill, but can really eat up some mana. The damage is okay, but puts a wonderful 12 second debuff. For the mana cost I would have hoped that the skill would have scaled in damage better, and have more of a slow effect than it really does. However all skills can’t be amazing so whatever. For both PvE this skill is a great opener if you have the mana for it since it will often let you kill mobs, in combination with other skills, before they reach you. For PvP it lets you chase down your targets, or run away, while doing a noticeable amount of damage. Works well as a desperate bit of burst damage. Rating: 3 stars.

Hiding: Highly recommend getting at least level 1 of this skill. Needed for ambush which is your only stun, so you are pretty much locked into getting it. Has some major drawbacks though like massive slow unless you invest into it, and a huge cooldown. Rating: 2 stars.

Damage buff (forgot name): Must get. If you don’t get this you will not be able to put out enough damage for anything. Your kills will not happen, and you will not be able to do enough damage to help your party in PvE. Rating: must have no matter what.

Crimson bullet: Great skill in PvE, and mediocre in PvP. This will effectively double your dps, and if you’re in PvP will help keep our target’s health from jumping when they heal due to the half heal recovery effect. A 6 second cast makes this a time and mana hog though, so as useful as it is not the best skill in the arsenal though useful. Rating: 3 stars.

Precision: increases chance to crit. Noble buff, but 1 minute buff for 2 min cooldown means its not that great. Also it will eat up much needed skill points which could be put other places. If you really want to crit people more just make some +3 crit gear. Rating: 2 stars.

Concentrate: Passive skill, awesome. Increases hit rate and reduces chance of interruption. Very handy if you go with the rifleman’s only real damage skill. It being passive means you don’t have to worry about it falling off for any reason. Rating: 4 stars.

Crit Power: Um, must get…the main damage skill relies on crits for it to really hurt, and guess where the crit damage increase comes from. Also all the wonderful things about passives apply here too. However, if you find some reason for not wanting higher damage, or need to scrounge up a spare point or two here is where to do it. Rating: 3 stars.

Devastation (aoe skill): Our only aoe skill, and okay damage at that. Has an added bonus of causing silence in an area, but requires you to select an area, has a long animation time, long cool down, and makes you lose your selected target. However it is a silence which can save you if you are about to get attacked by something (warrior stun, warlock, mage keeps healing), so it does have its uses. Rating: 3 stars.

Ambush: A near requirement, because this is a stun and stuns are godly. The long cooldown due to hiding makes it a pain to use, but with this you can easily take down everything but the most hardened target in the 5 second stun with a proper build. Rating: 3 stars.

My recommended skills:
Avoid countdown and rupture at all costs. These skills do not scale well, and eat up mana for no real effect.
Must haves are hollow point, concentrate, and level 1 hiding. Max out Hollow point. This skill is the staple of your damage in anything you do. Get your damage buff maxed too since this is something you need to be able to solo, kill, and party well. Concentrate is a must since it increases hit rate, and every missed hit is lost damage. Not to mention it reduces interruption which is great for hollow point. At least 1 point in hiding. Without this skill you are a sitting duck. This lets you get past guards to raid, escape ganks and getting mobbed.
Optional skills are crimson bullet, devastation, precision, and ambush. Ambush because it requires having hiding, and no matter how good the skill is only being able to use it once every two minutes is not fun at all. Precision could be good when combined with hollow point, but it is a skill point hog, so if you really want it get it, but be prepared to make sacrifices to get it to a good level. Crimson bullet has some serious uses, but to keep its damage at a constant rate you need to keep this skill maxed. It is possible to have it at level 1 for the debuff, but then you are losing out on a lot of potential DPS. It’s either completely invest in here, or don’t and have some free skill points to upgrade hiding or some other skill you like (precision).
Recommended skill is crit power. Increasing crit damage is nice, and it being passive is also cool. However you could survive without it, but 15% or so increase to crits does really add up. Keep in mind double is a crit too (perfect crit). Leg shot is very handy in anything you do. Slowing something down prevents damage from reaching you, and especially with the long range that makes the rifleman deadly. Making something take twice to three times longer to reach you gives you much more time to dish the hurt out, and lets you keep the option to run away open. Did I mention it does a fair bit of damage too?

How to play as a rifleman

In parties you won’t be able to AOE things down, so instead find the softest targets and take those down as fast as you can to give your healers an easier time. Your relatively high defense also enables you to take a bit of a pounding, so parties may use you as an off-tank if things get desperate enough especially since a rifleman can out damage any other class on a single target, so holding agro on that one mob will not be a problem. For PvP avoid the front lines and instead watch the outsides. The strength of a rifleman comes from its solo ability, so look for individuals that you can pick off rather than being in the middle of the crowd where AOE’s fly like crazy.

Rifleman Recommended skills:

Hollow Point(Main skill for grinding)
Lag Shot(Nice control skill)
Stealth(Must)
Crimson Point(skill for grinding)
Pinpoint Weakness(useful skill)
Sonice Blast(AOE)
All Passive Skills

Notes:
1. At early stage, don't upgrade the Hollow Point(Cost more MP)
2. Crimson Point costs less MP, so it's alternative skills when you don't have enough MP
3. Stealth is a nice skill to escape from fight! But some monsters could also find you even when you are hidden.
4. A small tips for combos. We all know that rifleman should shot and move, but don't use A/D key to move, instead you could use Q/E key. Just 1-Q-1-E-1-Q-1-E! 1 stands for your normal attack(NO CD TIME)!

Equipments:
Actually rifleman should only focus on two equips: Weapon and Shoes! We pursuit high attack and high moving speed! But +Move Speed gears are so expensive!

Pran: Fire Pran may be the best choice, coz she could increase your critical attack rate!

If you're still lost, you may use the Skill Simulator to help you decide which skills you will use.

Assassin Build:

Max stealth! ( must be lvl 59+. Dont max it if you are not lvl 59+).

sonic blast doesnt work well in predator anymore. Good player can see where the sonic blast come from and figure out your location.

base on my own experience, we have miss problem with player using Air pran. Very frustrated at some time lol. I am currently testing out max concentration to counter player with air pran.

Go solo honor farming in Darkrane and higher lvl map is hard if you dont have predator and max stealth. Mobs everywhere and they hurt as fk. It is ok to honor farm their if you have a group.

DPS Build

Improve Miss Rate Build

Few important note on builds:

you can see that I have max stealth(only recommend to have max stealth after you reach lvl 59). Why?

1. max stealth give you the flexibility to easilt run around high lvl map. Trust me, you dont wanna run around AshWood or Darkrane by yourself w/o stealth.
2. Max stealth give you the extra time to get your self in good position before using Predator. Players can see you using predator, therefore you want to get to their blind spots before you cast predator. Casting predator right infront of Players is a big NO!
3. Max stealth increases your survivability. RMs are very vulnerable w/o stealth. There is way to get RM stay in Stealth infinitely. Let's me show you some calculation: If you have relics -10% cool down, 10% increase duration and -4% cool down on your weapon. Your stealth/predator will have 103 secs cool down. Your predator last 22 secs and your stealth last 66secs. Your total time in stealth is 88secs. You only need to wait 15secs to use predator again. So you are in Stealth for almost all the time.
Let’s say if your nation manage to get the cool down relics to lvl3, you will stay in stealth forever!! People have very hard time to find me in Arena because if I am the last one. They only have about 15secs to find me before I get back in stealth mode .

max concentration to counter players use Air pran. I think there will be more people(pal/war/cler/Warlock) using Air pran later on because Air pran> Water pran in many way. I really hate player use air pran. once time, I miss 3 skills in a row ><.

Rifle smash is obsolete after you get predator(lvl 59)

Regarding head shot skill.

I had tested out max headshot build a week ago. The problem I have with max head shot at lvl 59:
1. target run out of range before the casting animation complete.
2. the damage comparing to hollow point isnt big. 1-1.3k more in normal damage and 2-2.5k more in crit. Lets say my HP crit 6k, Headshot only crit for max 8.5k.
I can cast HP+ rupture(assuming they are both crit) for 6k+3k=9k damage.
If you target a War or a DG, They can have enough time to put up a parry or sidestep.
I would use headshot if it can crit for at least 12k. Why? it take more than double the time to cast HP so it should have at least double the damage. However, Its damage is pathetic in term of dps.

3. my main targets when I am in Predator are RM/DG/Cleric/WL(with 1 or 2 buff only. It is hard to remove Mana shield if the WL has more than 2buffs). It is easier to kill a RM or DG because most dg and rm use Fire pran. Many Clerics and WLs using Air pran now. It is hard to hit them lol

5secs stun from ambush is not enough to cast headshot. the stun only last about 4-4.5secs. War/dg can put on parry/side step. Dg/RM can hide. Cleric can put on AA or lvl 59 skill. Pal can put on reflect.

my hollow point has 5sec cooldown. I cast it once, I need to wait 3secs to cast it again.
with 4secs stun from Ambush I can cast rupture+legshot+another hp= 9k+ damage > headshot damage. ( you can see this in my Aika RM damage wise vid- I did 6.4k hp, 1k leg + 1k rupture ( non-crit) on Xiara.

Regarding terminate + pin point

The use of Pinpoint+ terminate didnt work out well for me.

I prefer to keep around 4-5 main dps skill. With these 2 additional skills, I find it very hard to use a long side with HP/LegShot/Knockout shot/Rapture/IR.

They screwed up my whole skills cycle. I messed up lol. I use to cycle HP/ambush/leg shot/rapture/hollow point/knock out shot/rapture/IR/HP.
or normal shot to cancel parry/side step/ambush/HP/Leg shot/knock out shot/Rapture/IR/HP
If you get a -4% cd on weapon, you will be able to cycle them pretty fast.

so let me do some damage calculation here:
Pin point+ terminate take about 2.5secs cast time total.
-Max Terminate does around 2.6k damage and 5.2k crit.( side note: Pint point +terminate dont work all the time. Remember you can only use terminate if the target hp is below the HP threshold.)
-Leg shot+ rapture take about 2 secs cast time total:
Rapture does around 1k damage and 2k crit.
Leg shot does around 1.4k damage and 2.8k crit.

Even though the total damage of leg shot+ rapture is lower than max Terminate, I still prefer Leg shot+ rapture because I am guarantee in that 2-2.5 secs I can deal some damage. I also dont need to take out skill points from other skill to get pin point+ terminate.

I also mentioned that lvl 1 rupture is >> lvl 6 pinpoint.

lvl 1 rupture do 900-2.3k depend on crit or non-crit.
you can argue that oh you dont have a +11 gun. However if you working to your end game gears, you should at least aiming for a +8 or +9 weapon.
You will only do 100-200 less damage.
Anyway, let go back to the usefulness of pinpoint.
Pinpoint will reduce target x crit resistance, and It brings the target hp threshold for using terminate 10%+ depend on its lvl.

targets hp are vary atm depend on class. the hp range from 5k-19k atm. The average HP for each players are around 10k.
Lets assume all the target has 10k hp.

we gonna compare the lvl 1 rupture with lvl 1 pinpoint. 1st they are bost instant cast.
2nd.
lvl 1 rupture would do 900-2.2 k damage depend on crit or not in average. let say the target has 3-4khp left. if we can cast a lvl 1 rupture, the target hp will drop below 2.5k. This will trigger terminate.( passed the 25% hp threshold) However, your terminate will only need to deal 2.5k damage or less to take down the target.

lvl 1 pinpoint, you cast to the target lvl 1 pin pint, terminate will trigger when target has 3.5k hp left(35%). However, Terminate will need to deal 3.5k damage in order to take down the target. Beside, not all targets have 10k hp. The HP threshold increase depend on the target hp. on the other hand, lvl 1 rupture do stable damage.

Aika Pran Guide

The perils of your long journey require the assistance of a devoted partner.
This companion should act not only as a reliable sidekick in battle, but also as a close friend.

The Pran fits both descriptions with ease as she casts helpful spells on you and grows to trust you over many interactions.

She is your fairy familiar!

Acquiring Your Pran

When your character reaches level 7 a quest becomes available to you at the Flour Mill.
Captain Cromwell has recognized your progress and directs you to the Pran Station in the Commercial District of Regenshin.
There, you're given another quest to prove your worth, where you need to kill Breeding Boars, Moguns and Kubaris.

After collecting the items from these mobs, the Pran Station NPC will give you the option of what affinity Pran you'd like to choose.
Pick carefully, as this will be your first companion in the game [types are outlined in the Skills section].

To complete this quest, you need to obtain essences from mobs.
-5x of the essence for the affinity you want
-2x of each of the other essences

Once you turn this quest in, you get to name and meet your Pran companion!

There are three main Element Attributes of Pran: Fire, Water and Wind. Different elements will give your pran different skills.Generally speaking:

Fire Pran will improve your attack, max HP
Water Pran will improve your defense, max MP
Wind Pran will improve your HP%MP recover speed and also decrease your cost of skill spelling.

Please note that it's just general conclusion. You could find at least 7 skills for your Pran.

Then How to choose the element of your Pran? Here is my advice:

Warrior: fire/water(1st choice/2nd choice)
Paladin: water/fire
Rifleman:fire/wind
Dual Gunner: fire/wind
Warlock: wind/fire
Cleric: water/wind

Tips:
1. The personality of your pran doesn't affect the skill
2. Pay attention to answer the Pran questions, which will increase the intimacy. (We got success rates problem when using Pran skill. High intimacy will improve the success rates.)

Different pran works differently. Choose your pran wisely ;)

Water Pran - Def buff. Suitable for Healer, Mage, Tanker
Wind Pran - Mp/Hp and Dodge. Suitable for Gunner.
Fire - Damage buff. Suitable for Mage, Nuker

Water Pran Each Skill Effect:
+ Increase all water skills damage
+ Increase water element resistance
+ Engulf armour with water aura, increase physical and magical defence within a certain amount of time
+ Exchange Daughter's state between fairy or human
+ Increase Max MP
+ Cast a shield that absorbs damage within a certain amount of time
+ Increase resistance against abnormal status

Fire Pran Each Skill Effect:
+ Increase all fire skills damage
+ Increase fire element resistance
+ Engulf armour with fire aura, increase physical and magical attack within a certain amount of time
+ Exchange Daughter's state between fairy or human
+ Increase Max HP
+ Uses wrath that deals damage to attacking enemy within a certain amount of time
+ Increase critical rate

Wind Pran Each Skill Effect:
+ Increase all wind skills damage
+ Increase wind element resistance
+ Engulf armour with wind aura, increase dodging rate within a certain amount of time
+ Exchange Daughter's state between fairy or human
+ Increase Max MP and HP
+ Reduces MP usage of skills within a certain amount of time
+ Increase regeneration rate of HP and MP

Please be aware that your Pran will grow hungry. You can get your pran food at the Pran store or any other merchant store out there. Please be reminded if you were to vend overnight, you can put your pran in the pran waiting station so that you do not have to spend money on the pran food ;)

Do not stave your Pran.
When the Hunger reaches a certain number, Pran will start showing
different action to notify you. When Pran can't stand the hunger
any longer, it will return to the Pran's nurture centre.

When they're in hunger:
- HP and MP no longer regen
- Skills would be unusable
- Returning to nurture centre

Please treat your Pran well and make sure that the Devotion level is high. The higher the devotion % is, the higher chance your Pran will not refuse your request when you want them to cast their skill buff

For those of you who are set on needing a certain personality, here is a table of the questions, and the answers, along with which personality they give points to.

Aika Pran Chat scoring

Keep in mind, from when you buy your pran, up to when it is a teenager, its personality is determined in this block. For each type of personality, there is a scale from 1 to 255. The highest once the pran becomes a teenager is the personality the pran will keep.

It doesn't matter which personality your pran has when it comes to being buffed etc, that all depends on your devotion.

Limitations

Pran are unique creatures raised by their masters, and as such an account is limited to only two pran for its three characters.
Each Pran also unique, with its own name just like the players that own it - meaning no two Pran are exactly alike! As long as you got your second Pran (which of your characters got it, is not relevant), automatically any Pran acquisition quest you have on any of your characters will be removed, and you cannot get any other Pran. But you can use the Pran Station to share them between all of your characters. It means if you create a new level 1 character, he/she can immediately go to Pran station and pick one of your stored Pran.

Do they grow up?
Yes, pran is designed to grow at different levels
Fairy -> Adolescent -> Teenager -> Adult
Adult is currently not opened
and Evolve levels are : Lv5 and Lv20 currently

Are there other pran personality? I mean only cute?
There are six different types of prans, different types of pran can effect pran's buff/skill beneficial values.
These types are : Cute(default), Intelligent, Sexy, Hyper, Corrupt, and Valiant
Different personality also effect their character voice and actions.

How do we get the personality we want?
Well, this is what this thread is about. But you can only alter the personality during Adolescent stage.
Each personality has a value of 0 to 255, and cute starts at 100.
Prans only change personality type once they are evolved into Teenager
(if one of the personality reaches 255 first/the highest one counts)
Once
pran evolves into teenager, only the main one will take effect
immediately, other personalities will have their values decreased by 30%

Is there anything about pran that we should know?
Yes,
when a pran is still at Adolescent stage, you can feed her anything you
want. But once you feed her too nutritiously at Teenage stage...they
will fatten
you don't want a tiny meat ball running with you do you? ;)

What food is the best for pran?
Pumpking Pie! it gives 8% food and only cost 150+tax!

Aika Global OBT on August 27

I came, I saw, I did not really conquer.

It was the game that conquered me.

After drawing much interest and phenomenal response from MMO gamers all over the globe, AIKA Global’s Closed Beta Test has formally comes to a close. Due to its smash hit takeover last August 20 until August 23, Hanbistoft Inc. and T3 Entertainment in cooperation with Redbana Philippines are in high spirits for the great success of AIKA Global CBT. They are now out in the field laying the groundwork for the Open Beta Test that is to be launched on August 27, 2010 with amazing prizes awaiting global players.

Hanbistoft Inc. and T3 Entertainment, in cooperation with Redbana Philippines, genuinely acknowledge the warm response and will by all means take in consideration all the feedback and data gathered from the CBT to further advance and adjust the game, carrying through AIKA Global’s promise of creating a stunning piece of MMO history!

AIKA Global prides itself in its rich in-game visuals that lets its players feel the realism of the environments in the game. Combining that with the game’s specially designed engine that can support massive warfare, the result is definitely something to behold. Despite the state-of-the-art graphics, system requirements are easy to reach for the average gamer.

First Impressions

Upon entering Lakia, the world that Aika takes place in, the first thing that blew me away was how the game looks. You can say that the game looks as good as say, Lineage or Granado Espada (Swords of the New World for other countries). You are sent into a world where everyone looks good, even the monsters you have to kill.

Character Creation Screen

The game's backdrop seems like it was taken from high fantasy novels. Everything looks fresh and vibrant just like how things look in GE. I know with this first impression, you'd immediately jump at the similarities of GE and Aika Online. However, these "similarities" between Aika and GE are only based on its visuals and graphics.

After getting over my initial surprise, I finally understood why the game felt familiar. Aika had a lot of game systems taken from a certain mmo. It should come as no surprise though because the two games have the same developer. The mmo that I'm talking about is, With Your Destiny (WYD, or Supreme Destiny SD, to some countries).

Game System

Aika Online is the upgraded version of WYD. There are a lot of systems in Aika that are found in WYD. The thing is it seems that WYD was the first draft of the things you find in Aika. Let's just say for now that Aika is WYD, but Aika has a better graphics engine and a more refined game system compared to WYD.

Prans

Prans in Aika Online are your partners and friends. They're the white light or fairy that circles around your character in its lower levels and continues to evolve to become a child and teenager. The fairy Pran reminds me of the Naiads you find in WYD. They have the same visual characteristics and both the WYD Naiads and Aika's Prans assist the player.

The Pran is the Tiny Pink Fairy by the Warrior's Shoulder

Assisting however is the only thing similar between the two because Prans as I've said evolve and develop a character of their own. Also, Prans can attack or heal you. The Naiads on the other hand only serve as a charm to protect you from dying.

PvP

Aika prides itself as a PvP centric MMO. No one can argue with that since there are a lot of game systems in Aika, which support such claim. The PvP systems in Aika Online seem to be the refined version of the PvP systems found in WYD because both games are in fact PvP centered.

Aika Online has three ways players can get involved with PvP. Players can create their own PvP instance called Battlegrounds where they can go fight against other players in PvP battles. The Battlegrounds system is like Aika's version of PvP rooms where players can create specific instances solely for PvP-ing.

Aika also has a nation vs. nation PvP called Relic War. It's basically a PvP system that pits the five nations against each other in a race to acquire "relics" that provide nationwide buffs for its citizens. You can say that Relic War is similar to RF's chip war where the RF's three races battle to acquire the chip and provide their race buffs that will span till the next scheduled war.

Aika's PVP

The third biggest PvP system in Aika Online is the Castle Siege. This is more of a nation-wide guild battle where guilds can vie for power and control of their nation. The guild leader who takes control of the castle will be the one who controls the nation's political, military and economic policy.

Political as well as PvP Centered

The Castle Siege system puts politics in Aika gameplay. Having control over your nation really puts emphasis on guild politics. Adding politics into the mix makes Aika more interesting because the game becomes more than just eye candy. The level of depth the game has will immerse a lot of players.

However, I think it will be hard to attract new players in the late stages of the game. There will come a time when an established rule is placed in Aika. When that happens, new players who have no affiliation whatsoever will find it hard to adjust or even be part of the nation's politics. I think though this kind of problem will be easily remedied by participating in a few Relic Wars.

Speaking of Eye Candy

Aika has a lot of eye candy aside from the beautiful landscapes and graphics. As expected from eastern style MMORPGS, the developers have put a lot of emphasis on female characters and their chests. You can actually see the physics engine at work when you're creating your character. Believe me, I've had an eyeful.

The job classes in Aika are gender locked. Customization allows you to change the face, hairstyle and hair color of your character. You don't specifically have a real "customized" character in Aika Online. This is the games limit but then the game prefers to concentrate on the gameplay rather than the personal touch.

Conclusion

As far as I can tell, I like how Aika looks and feels. Everything set in place in Aika is well suited for a fun PvP centered gaming experience. There are still a lot of areas that are not accessible at the moment, (which I stumbled upon with my access) but it seems that the game will deliver an action-packed gaming experience for players.

However a lot of game systems rely on the game's population. I've seen a lot of MMOs die because they haven't been able to keep the population stable. Speaking of which, there will be balance issues especially in the nation vs. nation war. There are 5 nations that need to be filled. There will be a time when one nation won't even be able to compete because the players who belong to that nation are either migrating to another nation or are too low level to even stand up against stronger nations.

Of course everything right now is just pure speculation. There's a possibility that the game will get a population boom come OBT and commercial launch. The game has a lot of potential to be a hit; however the people running the game need to make sure they deliver the best possible gaming experience.

The Doctor's POV

I was only able to take part in the CBT for six hours but it was six hours of rocking good time infront of my laptop - despite the fact that I did not use a mouse the entire time.

Sniper

Cannae, the red server, was the one I picked and I chose a Sniper as my character. Character creation was pretty dandy since despite the gender limitations, you still get to customize your character's facial features.

After creating a character, you get the option to either start in the field or in the city. For a game noob, I selected the city.

I found myself in the center of what must have been the town square. It had a feel of Granado Espada, with graphics and music similar to it. Right then and there, you will receive a series of quests from the town NPCs. There is no quest alert system but you will see a green exclamation point on top of the head of the NPC you can get a quest from and a red exclamation point on your map.

Maneuvering in Aika (minus the mouse!) is actually easy compared to other online games. You can use the usual WASD controls or your arrow keys.

I only got as far as the forest outside the town but don't think I only walked a few feet. My Sniper spent most of the time running to and fro. Aika's world is vast, filled with a mixture of aggressive and non-aggressive monsters. One could get dizzy because of how large the place is.

The Sniper's attack was just as I expected. They are slow at attacking but hit the monsters hard. High damage is worth the expensive bullets. It is also handy for timed quests since you do not waste time trying to kill a monster.

I got my Pran at level 7. I thought I'll get it immediately. Heck no, one has to work hard to get the Pran. You need to collect a certain number of the three essences (Fire, Air, and Water), depending on the kind of Pran you like. I chose a Fire Pran, which specializes in boosting your attack. Mind you, the Essences are difficult to acquire. They drop from monsters and are very rare that I resorted to buying the essences from the Consignment Shop.

The Consignment Shop is similar to Cabal's Auction Shop wherein you can sell your items and just check back after 24 hours to see if they have been sold. My only complaint there is that non-citizens have a 15% tax, considering that the Citizen Quest is given at Level 10.

This is how my CBT Pran looks like

My Fire Pran had a cute personality. I don't really know what's cute about a Pran that kept refusing to buff me and kept butting in during NPC conversations. You don't get to voluntarily talk to your Pran, through. You have to wait for them to want to talk to you. A bubble will appear at the lower right part of your screen which indicates that your Pran is in the mood to have a short conversation with you. Always check for that because your Pran might run away if you keep ignoring it.

Joining a party in Aika is also advisable. There are certain quests that would require you to be in a party because the monsters you are supposed to kill are really strong for the character level at which it is given. Aside from this, questing in a party is helpful because aside from the EXP boost, your party member's kills get added to your quest kills.

In a nutshell, here's what I think of Aika after playing it up to Level 10:

1. It felt like playing a fine mix of Granado Espada and Rohan Online.

2. Easy to manuever.

3. Music is pretty boring but I guess that is part of the old European feel.

4. Maps are so huge, they need to work on an easy way of finding the NPCs.

5. Good job on putting a search option on the map in order to find certain quest monsters.

6. Prans spice things up.
