Cross Fire Team Philippines in World Cyber Games 2011 in Korea

Cross Fire Philippine Team is now all set for the World Cyber Games 2011!

Gameclub is mighty proud to send the one and only Philippine Team participating for the World Cyber Games 2011 happening this December 8-11, 2011 in Busan, Korea.

After the Pride of Champions League (PCL) which happened from August 19, 2011 to September 18, 2011 in Laguna, Pangasinan, Bacolod, Cebu, Davao and Metro Manila, top 8 teams emerged. On September 25, 2011 the best of the best teams were found at the Crossfire PCL National Finals held at Villman Cyberzone SM Megamall. Team MOTV from Cebu won the grand title while Cristal (formerly AZK) and Saintz from Manila raced runners up accordingly.

Crossfire Team Philippines left the country with pride today for Busan, Korea to represent Filipino pride for World Cyber Games 2011.  Unfortunately, some of the members from Champion team MOTV had problems with VISA application and so members from the 1^st Runner-Up team, Cristal, had to replace them. Thus, forming our official Cross Fire Team Philippines representative:  Team MOTV-CRISTAL (-rachel08-, mOtv-cyb- and JOHNN3Y of MOTV and ELGEE and DHALEE of CRISTAL)

Crossfire  won 3^rd Place on the World E-Sports Masters last year in Hangzhou, China, we will now combat head to head against other participating countries namely China, Vietnam, Korea, Germany, US, Indonesia, Russia, Taiwan, Canada, and Japan.

Cross Fire PH Game Updates: Hero Mode Patch

Cross Fire Philippines will be releasing a much awaited Hero Mode Patch that features the new action-packed game mode called Hero Mode, an advanced version of the Zombie Mode wherein one player will be chosen to be the powerful “Hero.” The patch will also include new lotto weapons namely MG3, a low recoil machine gun and Christmas Set that includes Holiday themed AK47, Kriss Super V, M249 and the first ever permanent melee weapon, Kris. There will also be an addition in the Zombie characters, the fast and scary Assassin.

Aside from the monthly patch, Cross Fire is also giving out free Gold AK47 and Gold Katana both for 30 days to users who were able to log in from October 1, 2011 to November 30, 2011 and to those who were unable to log in since July 12, 2011 to October 31, 2011.

7 Things You Should Know About Online Passwords

As online technology has advanced, so have hackers techniques for getting into your accounts and stealing personal information. Hackers break into computers 2,244 times each day by figuring out weak usernames or passwords, according to University of Maryland data. If you’re still using the same password you made up when you opened your first email account, you are setting yourself up to be a hacking victim. But don’t worry; read on and learn how to set those Internet geniuses-gone-wrong up for failure by knowing the essentials about online passwords.

You need different passwords for each site

Since passwords are so hard to remember and you sometimes don’t sign into a site for months, many people have one or two passwords they use for everything. This is an easy way for hackers to get access to your accounts. Hackers will infiltrate sites that aren’t very secure and uncover the passwords used there. Then they run them on all the most popular sites; if you use the same password across the board, they can easily access several of your accounts. By using a different one for each site you log into, you’re not handing them your life if they figure out one password.

Longer passwords are harder to hack

It obviously takes less time to type in a five-character password than a 15-character one, but that also means it will take less time for an Internet burglar to figure out. Most of us probably don’t have the interest or the determination to break into someone’s account, so it’s hard to imagine going through enough combinations to find out a five-letter password. Hackers have advanced programs, though, that allow their computers to go through hundreds of possibilities every minute. Each letter, number, or symbol you add to your passwords multiplies the time it takes to figure it out, hopefully frustrating the hacker enough that he gives up. A six-letter password that’s all lower-case takes 10 minutes to hack while an eight-letter one takes four days.

You shouldn’t use a word from the dictionary

A dictionary attack sounds like something an overworked English teacher would do, but it’s actually a method of hacking passwords. Many hackers use automated password-guessers that go through the words in the dictionary to try to crack yours. If you’ve used any common words, there’s a good chance that a person equipped with the right tools will be able to break into your account very quickly. By combining two or three dictionary words, you increase the amount of time it will take to guess it exponentially. By adding symbols and numbers in the middle of words, you protect yourself almost completely from a dictionary attack.

Humans tend to choose passwords with personal meanings

Because we as humans are so forgetful, our first instinct when choosing a password is to think of words that mean something to us personally. This makes our choices very predictable to hackers. Pet names, favorite sports teams, birthdays, and other personal bits of information are some of the most commonly used passwords, so if anyone knows even a little bit about you (or can find it on Facebook), you could be in trouble. Stay away from using your own name, names of people in your family, or any memorable dates. It should go without saying that you shouldn’t be using “123456″ or “qwerty.”

Passwords need to be changed regularly

Some offices and organizations require you to change your password every 90 or 180 days, and while it seems like a hassle, it’s actually a smart practice to do with all your accounts. This is especially important to do with online banking sites or shopping sites where your credit card information might be stored. It’s also necessary if you access any accounts on public or shared computers because your password may be stored without you knowing it and some hackers use programs that record your keystrokes. By regularly changing your password to something completely different, you lower the risk of any major damage being done if someone did manage to hack your account.

There are guidelines for creating strong ones

Now that you know you shouldn’t use common words or your dog’s name to access your online accounts, you might wonder what you should use instead. Most Internet security experts recommend having a password that’s at least 8 characters long with a mix of capitalized and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols. A common technique for avoiding easily guessed words is to put three unrelated words together and make up a short story that involves all three so you can remember it. You can also use the first letter of each word in your favorite line of a song or movie. Change out a couple letters for numbers or special characters, and your password should be too much trouble for a hacker to figure out.

Password managers can help you keep track of them all

Once you’ve updated all your passwords to long strings of letters and digits, you’re probably going to forget one along the way. Security experts say it’s a bad idea to write down a list of all your passwords and leave it on or near your computer because someone could easily steal it. The smartest alternative is to use a trusted password manager, which can be web-based technology, software you put on your computer, or a portable device. Password managers keep track of your various passwords and often protect against keystroke recording programs and look-alike sites that hackers use.

Dragon Nest SEA To Have a PH Server

“We're going to have a dedicated server for ‘Dragon Nest SEA’ in the Philippines, and hopefully, this can be achieved by December this year.”

Those were the words that came directly from Mr. Addison Kang, vice-president and producer of Shanda Games, publisher of the free-to-play 3D multiplayer online action role-playing game (MO action RPG) Dragon Nest in Southeast Asia, himself.

He reveals that majority of “Dragon Nest SEA” players come from the Philippines. A quick check on Facebook — a site that serves as a testament to how Shanda values social platforms to engage fans — confirms this.


"One strong point of the game is that it has high-end graphics but it can run on low-end PCs and on low bandwidth as well," adds Addison. “That's rare. This is one reason that ‘Dragon Nest SEA’ is popular in the Philippines.”

Are they looking to partner with any organization from the Philippines? “We are talking to [professional-gaming organization] Mineski, but nothing’s concrete yet,” Addison says.

If and when they'll create their own Philippine-based team is something that’s going to be answered in perhaps a month or two also, but based on what Mr. Kang has been hinting in his Facebook page, it seems that the PH server is already a done deal.

Coming from a player whose reason for playing in a SEA server is to stay away from the ill-mannered Filipinos and be able to interact with the rest of the Southeast Asians, I sincerely abhor this idea. Dumping the Filipinos in a single server is no different from playing in a locally distributed online game, filled with Filipino players who endlessly taunt each other in-game.

I'm unsure of how this PH server will exactly work, but I do hope they wouldn't put all Pinoys in a single server, that it will be the players' choice on whether or not they want to be in the said server or not.

Being the devil's advocate, I think the Filipinos will have their own server because the other SEAns are already finding them unbearable, with all the Pinoys' needless world chats filled with cusses in Tagalog and scamming other players.

UPDATE: 

 Here's how the DN SEA PH Server will go.

In other words, Cherry Credits will maintain all the servers and PH players CAN STILL play on any of the four servers. PH players will only get a dedicated server wherein they can all gather in order to minimize the lag problems/complaints and enhance the gaming experience.

I still wouldn't even think of going there. Give me the lag, spare me from rude Filipinos.

Genghis Khan PH Not Wasting Time: OBT on December 8!

Strike while the iron is hot, while the players are still clamoring for the game, while the success of a recently concluded CBT is still fresh in the air.

That is exactly what Gameclub is doing right now. After just a few days since the end of their CBT, Genghis Khan's OBT schedule has already been announced today and is scheduled to happen on December 8.

The Closed Beta Phase of Genghis Khan ended last December 5, 2011. Hundreds of players amassed within the 4 Kingdoms with the goal of being titled as the Supreme Ruler. Others who formed guilds took up arms as they fought the others in the battle for supremacy. 

During the early days of the CBT, players flocked to the quest areas and PVP Arena with the goal of winning the events prepared by the Game Masters. These quests are:

1.      Legendary King –Players who will be the FIRST kings in each of the kingdoms during the CBT Period.

2.      Top Ranked – In each kingdom, the highest level player in each class will be given recognition and prizes (48 winners in total) 

3.      Brainiacs – The best player who can answer the trivia questions quickly and correctly. 

4.      Ironman – Where players are on a time limit, acted in Ironman triathlon contests for completing a quest.

Also, there were:

1.       Kick Off Event – Where Game Masters give out items during the CBT that can help players upgrade their equipment and purchase items. 

2.      Bug Hunt Event – This event focused on putting the players in the spotlight to find Bugs/Errors to help fix the game in preparation for the Open Beta.

Genghis Khan's CBT was so successful that they couldn't let the players get agitated and overly excited. They simply couldn't get enough of the game!

The Coolness of Assassins in Online Games

A game usually divides character classes into two categories, bright and dark. Most players are fully aware of the powerfulness of the bright and inclined to neglect dark classes. They may firmly believe that bright classes are mightier than dark classes. Assassins in DNF: bring tactics into full play

So, those who play assassins barely have to consider improving stats, but instead let assassins fight monsters automatically by use of sharp blades. However, DNF (Dungeon Fighter Online) features perfectly evolved content in this respect. After all, DNF is an action-packed online game.

In DNF, assassins are fairly popular with players too. Valuing control tactics more than the other classes, assassins in DNF can not only do crits, but also give considerable damage through glorious combos. Particularly, assassins seek to kill foes in a flash during combat. With the aid of control tactics and skill combinations, those who choose to play assassins are usually considered to be superior and stand for a grave threat. Assassins in Aion: killers with wings

As a sub-class of scouts, assassins in Aion are suitable for solo play. Dragon Nest Force User Skill Build Guide

Force users have high damage output but seems to be more solo-friendly with skills to help support one in battle.

Darkness = Damage/Control.
Light = Defensive damage. (Less damage than Darkness, focuses on protecting you)
Time = Support allies, weaken enemies.

In terms of PVE = very good class.

In terms of PVP
One Vs. one = Take the darkness route.
Party battles = All are good, but Time is the best when used well.
If you don't want to be good at PvP = Take the light route.

This is Princess Cow's current skill build, The Dark and Time build. Based on my experience when the two of us play together, it compensates for it's slow cooldown with the high damage output. You can't spam your skills compared to the other builds out there, but is definitely handy in hurting monsters and your opponents big time.

This is currently the most popular build. The main reason behind it is that Dark skills just look cool. At the same time, it also has enough points in CC and support, making you a welcome addition to any party. This is the most popular build for Dungeon runs.

Focus points: Dark tree get Raise Gravity and Time tree unlock Time Acceleration.

Ratings: Great CCing, poor DPS, moderate survivability.

Why your teammates like you? You got abilities to control the battle field – summoning black hole to corporate with teammates' ultimate skills, using teleport to escape from death, Slow Area and Time Resurrection will help your teammates avoid damage and hit monsters precisely.

After Lv40, you have lots of choices. You can enhance your dark magic damage level, or level up time controlling skills.

Zeenoh's Patintero Playtime for iOS

Every Filipino child knows Patintero by heart, as it is a fun street game that requires teamwork and agility. Zeenoh, in its third game, relives the Patintero spirit among the youth in its new iOS app entitled "Patintero". True to its roots, Zeenoh designed this app to tap the hearts of Filipino children who has forgotten the joy of playing street games. Before the advent of technology, children used to play outside with friends with games such as Patintero. Zeenoh aims to reach out to the youth and help them rekindle their love for street games by introducing it as an iOS app.


In the game, Lolo Amihan teaches users how to play Patintero digitally. The tutorial establishes the setting of the game, involving two teams and a grid. The two teams are the players and the taggers. The goal of the game is simple: for the player team to pass through the other end of the grid. The taggers are assigned each line in the grid in which they must guard, in an attempt to block the players from crossing. In order to win a Patintero game, a player must be equipped with speed, agility and a presence of mind. Without these three, it would be difficult to get the team across the other end of the grid and win the game. Zeenoh's Patintero allows players to acquire power ups as they go, which are: speed, time, 10pts coin and 20pts coin. A whole Patintero game only lasts for 2 minutes, wherein the winner is determined by the highest score.

The game features three flavors, which are the Patintero Playtime, Patintero Ultimate and Patintero Extreme. The Patintero Playtime is the first version to be released on November 2011, which is a free version that allows a one-to-one (human vs. human) game. This version is available on HD format and for the iPad. The Patintero Ultimate is a paid version that offers more features. These features include more teams that can play, which varies from animals, plants and aliens, to name a few. This version would be released soon after the release of Patintero Playtime. On the other hand, the Patintero Extreme offers even better features than the Ultimate, as this version of the app would be integrated with more teams and more worlds to explore.
