e-Games bought World of Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft

IP e-Games has purchased distribution rights of Blizzard Entertainment International's games in the Philippines, which includes World of Warcarft, Diablo and Starcraft. Before anything else, we'd like to clarify that e-Games is not opening a Philippine server for the aforementioned games. E-Games snags 'World of Warcraft' license for PH

MANILA, Philippines - IP E-Game Ventures (E-Games), the online gaming subsidiary of publicly listed technology firm IPVG Corp., has been given the exclusive license for popular online games "World of Warcraft", "Starcraft" and "Diablo" in the Philippines.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the company said it executed on Tuesday a license and distribution agreement with Blizzard Entertainment International, a division of Netherlands-based Cooperatie Activision Blizzard International U.A.

Under the agreement, E-Games has the exclusive right to market, sell and distribute Blizzard's boxed license products in the Philippines.

Blizzard's products include massively multiplayer online games (MMPOG) World of Warcraft, Warcraft I, II and III, Starcraft I and II and Diablo I, II and the upcoming Diablo III.

World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games in the world, with more than 11 million subscribers as of March 2011.

E-Games runs a network of over 160 internet cafes in the country. Around 70 percent of users of online games published by E-Games play in Internet cafes. Among its online role-playing games are RAN Online, CABAL Online and Granado Espada.

There are over two million customers every month at ita Internet cafes, while its online game business has around 3.5 million active users a month.

E-Games also reported P36.32 million in net income for the first half of the year, a 8,480% increase from P0.42 million during the same period in 2010.
