    Batman: Arkham City Gets Even Grittier

    The new Joker trailer shows off an even grittier side of Gotham in Batman: Arkham City. After watching it, I couldn’t help but reminisce about Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight, wishing he was still around to be in The Dark Knight Rises.

    This new trailer shows off a lot of the gameplay and story sequences you will see in Arkham City.

    Among the cadre of villains that Batman has faced, The Joker stands as one the Dark Knight’s arch-nemesis. With his elaborate schemes and capacity for violence, the Clown Prince of Crime has demonstrated a knack for creating deadly mayhem in Gotham, and now that threat has come to the dangerous streets of Arkham City.

    Check out the trailer above and let us know how excited you are for this latest Batman title from Warner Bros Interactive and Rocksteady.

    Batman: Arkham City hits the Xbox 360 and PS3 on Oct. 18 in North America.

    Final Fantasy XIII-2 Release Date Announced

    We’ve got two new trailers for Final Fantasy XIII-2, featuring music by Warner Bros. Records artist Charice, who sings “New World” in the North American version.

    These two trailers show off both story and gameplay. The Despair trailer shown here, focuses on Gaius. It’s also got some cool Back to the Future time paradox story setup. Be sure to check out the scene at 2:21.

    In this second trailer, entitled “Promise”, we revisit Snow. He makes a promise to Lightning’s sister Sarah. There are some bigger fight scenes shown off in this trailer as well a few spectacular magic spells. Once again the visuals do nothing short of impress.

    There are a lot of cinematic sequences shown off in these two videos. Since time travel and paradoxes are so pivotal to the story, I can only hope that gamers will have more choice in deciding their final fate in this latest Final Fantasy tale.

    Final Fantasy XIII-2 will hit the PS3 and Xbox 360 on January 31, 2012, followed by its European release on February 3, 2012.

    Diablo III Pushed To 2012

    Diablo III will release in early 2012, Blizzard has confirmed.

    In a statement, CEO Mike Morhaime said the delay is to allow Blizzard to improve the game before its release.

    "With every game we make, the temptation is always very strong to launch as soon as possible," Morhaime said. "However, we didn't put so many years of work into Diablo III to release a game that was almost ready."

    Blizzard will extend the Diablo III beta, allowing for further testing and "potentially adding more testers than initially projected," according to a press release.

    "The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we're taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players," Morhaime said. "Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers."

    No further launch details were released, but expect more announcements to come via the game's official site.

    Weapons of War: Major Patch Coming Soon!

    Sharpen your swords, reinforce your armors and call your comrades as Weapons of War releases its 4th major patch this September 2011! Along with the new patch comes the underwater content as the barricades to the Dragon Village Port are opened. They will now face a new level of competition as the Level Cap is raised to 75! New quests await them as they venture new maps and new monsters for them to slay.

    What would be an underwater content with no underwater mount? Yes, you’ve heard it right! For those who will be lucky enough, a Dark Night Ray Mount is waiting for you from the newest lotto in the item mall. It’s not just the water mount to be unfolded, a speedy adventure for them once they get the extra 5% move speed from the Moon Rabbit Pet!  Also new avatars are available for those who are tired of seeing the same interface.

    Millions of monsters will hide in fear as players go in a frenzy monster hunt as they race to be the first level 75 of their class. Cool prizes will be given away to those who will reach the level cap in time. All of this will come this September on Weapons of War Ascendance Patch.

    The tentative date for the release of the patch is on September 28, 2011.

    iDate: Bringing the Love in Casual Gaming

    Last year in iDate, two players became so popular for being the 1st female and 1st male to reached Level 50. These players are ~EXO~Yuna<3HugS and ~EXO~VCM~Sheen*, noticed that they are from the same clan, and that makes Exoduz Family clan are so proud of them.

    Just this August 25, 2011, iDate increased the level cap to 60. After a week, few players reached level 51st right away. But the big question is “who will be the 1st female and male players to reach Level 60?”

    Truly iDate is an addicting game, one of the best stress reliever. iDate is very unique because of the easy game play, cool graphics, k-pop songs. This is a game where you can express yourself by dressing up your character that virtually represent yourself inside the game. It is also different from others in a way that it reaches out to the players and helps them enhance their social interaction and gives them chances to meet and befriend people around the Philippines.  Not only that! This game is for the huge age range of players, amazingly a fun game for the young and young at heart.

    The best part of the game is to experience the “online dating”, young adults enjoy this feature because it boost their determination to ask someone to go on a date even if in just one of the dating rooms inside the game. To know that person one on one, a simple “HI” and Hello” ,  a getting to know each other stage, down to a heart to heart talk really gives them a wonderful experience-- almost the same feeling as what real life dating experience is all about.  It’s always up to the players if they want to go on the next level wherein they will meet personally and get to know each other well, some actually did that and became real life lovers, some remained exclusively dating, some remained honey inside the game and friends in real life, everything is really up to the players. But bottom line, there’s always a responsibility that comes within, of course the  general rule is that you have to be careful with the people whom you meet and the game masters of the game always reminds its players to be careful at all times.

    Aside from the in-game happenings, it’s always good to look back at the iDate’s past ground events which always drew hundreds of spectators since May 2010 up to the last event held last May 2011 in SM Manila.

    It’s always been the talk of the town--the AVP is being played daily in the LCD monitors of SM Cyberzone, pictures posted on our Facebook Fanpage:

    As a part of our appreciation to all the iDaters, join us in our upcoming tournament this October for the Clan Wars and Reversion Battle, exact date will be posted on our official website, forums and facebook fan page.

    Please see the following links:

     And hopefully before the year ends, we can give you another remarkable event where you can bring your avatar to life again!

    Razer to Design The Ultimate Arcade Stick for The XBOX 360 with The Community

    Razer, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, just announced a program to co-develop the ultimate arcade stick for the Xbox 360 together with the arcade stick community. The arcade stick, developed with pro-gamer feedback, is currently at the prototype stage. For the finishing touches, up to 200+ specially selected top-seed Street Fighter IV pro-gamers, influential modders, and members of the arcade enthusiast community will each be given a Razer arcade stick to test and provide feedback to further improve it to perfection, whereupon the final design will then proceed to production.

    Since the company’s beginnings in ’98, Razer has continually taken pro-gamer feedback and validation during the product development phase to ensure that the design for every gaming product shipped is the absolute best for the competitive edge in tournament-grade play. But in an unprecedented move in the gaming hardware space, Razer is now reaching out to the entire arcade stick community to help make this yet-to-be-named product the best arcade stick in the world. Their feedback will be a huge influencing factor in the design of the final product.

    “Razer is for gamers, by gamers. We’ve been taking feedback from our professional players on products for years and now we want to open it up to the community. That’s why we want every arcade enthusiast and modder’s input in the development of this special arcade stick,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President, Razer USA. “In this way, it’s not just our arcade stick; it’s the community’s arcade stick. Together, we will create a weapon that delivers the best fighting performance for every gamer and allows modding to the individual’s exact specifications. We’re not just asking people for input on the paint job, we’re after serious hardware feedback.”

    Members of the arcade community worldwide interested in participating in this beta program are encouraged to contribute ideas at www.razerzone.com/bredtofight, along with a short description as to why they should be selected for prototype testing. Registrants can also nominate other people to the program. Up to 200+ successful applicants worldwide will receive an arcade stick prototype delivered directly to their homes.

    Razer will be launching this non-retail arcade stick closed beta community program at Tokyo Game Show, the heart of the professional console fighting scene. Select pro-gamers and key modders will also be approached very soon to begin beta testing the prototype.

    For more information on the arcade stick or the community program and how to get involved, please visit this page.

    DC Universe Online Going Free-To-Play

    DC Universe Online's long-rumored free-to-play model has finally arrived, splitting up the MMO's payment models and accessibility between three increasingly priced tiers. "Free" players will have basic access and pay á la carte for some new content and features, "Premium" players will have slightly more access and options and "Legendary" players will pay $15 a month for what's essentially an all-you-can-play buffet of what the game's got to offer. If you already shelled out for DCUO on PC or PlayStation 3 any time between its January launch and the upcoming free-to-play switch, Sony says existing accounts with active paid subscriptions will be granted Legendary Access.

    Free: New players will now have access to the current gameplay in DC Universe Online (including Gotham City, Metropolis, and all current raids and alerts), with the ability to create two characters, join a league and many other benefits. Free level players will be able to purchase downloadable game packs/updates, additional character slots, powers and more through microtransactions.

    Premium: Any player who has spent at least $5 USD (including former paid subscribers and new players who have purchased $5 of in-game items) will qualify for the Premium access level. Premium level players will have more benefits available to them than the Free level player, including additional character slots, additional inventory slots, and higher cash limits. Downloadable adventure packs, additional character slots, and more can be purchased in-game.

    Legendary: Maximum features and benefits are included at this level. Loaded with enhanced additional features, Legendary access will be available for a $14.99 USD monthly fee and includes all DLC packs at no cost, more than 15 character slots, more than 80 inventory slots, the ability to form unrestricted-sized leagues, and many other benefits.

    "Our philosophy embraces learning from our experience and as a pioneer in the free-to-play space with proven successful games like Free Realms and Clone Wars Adventures, we believe this new model will expand the DCUO experience and offer more options that cater to every type of player so they can play the game in a way that fits them," said SOE president John Smedley.

    The success of SOE's other F2P games probably isn't the only reason for the switch. MMOs from other companies, such as Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online, have seen their fortunes rise now that they've adopted subscriptional-optional business models. LOTRO developer Turbine said that the game's revenue tripled after they made the switch.

    New Genso Suikoden Game Announced For PSP

    Konami have announced a new Suikoden game for the PSP. It doesn’t appear to be related to the main series as it doesn’t have a number on it. The game is titled Genso Suikoden: The Woven Web of a Century. The game is “a new story about a hundred worlds, a hundred years later”. Wanna see the trailer? click here or just clicky play the video below.

    The Woven Web of a Century was announced while Konami discussed Frontier Gate at Tokyo Game Show. Last we heard, Konami hired Tri-Ace to develop that game because their Suikoden team had disbanded. Osamu Komuta, director of Suikoden Tierkreis, is the director of Frontier Gate, but we don’t know if Tri-Ace are developing both games.

    Review: Dragon Nest SEA

    One of the most prevalent trappings of fantasy MMOs is that several classes and archetypes tend to be the same across every game. As far as classes go, it’s always made up of your Warrior/Fighter, Cleric/Priest, Assassin/Rouge, Mage/Wizard and so on, with all these classes forming the legendary “Holy Trinity” of a MMO party: The Tank, the Healer and the DPS. Occasionally, games come along that continue to be fun despite using a familiar template, and even in its open-beta phase, Dragon Nest proves it can feel familiar yet fun at the same time.

    The game starts simply enough with the choice of 4 basic classes:

    1.The Warrior: Classic close-combat class with an even balance of offensive and defensive skills but can specialize into 2 different advance classes, the swordsman and the mercenary
    The Swordsman: Swordsmen are warriors whom favour the offensive aspect of their class. Players can choose to specialize in 1 on 1 or to improve their crowd control capabilities.
    The Mercenary: Mercenaries are the archetypal Tank that can be found in all MMOs. Though they lose out on Swordsman damage output, they can take a beating and ask for seconds.

    2. The Archer: Straightforward long-ranged damage dealer, the archer is fast, hard-hitting but fragile. Archers will need to use their mobility to ensure survival. The Archer can advance to a SharpShooter or an Acrobat.
    The Sharpshooter: Specialized in long-ranged combat, the Sharpshooter is the archer with a full focus on long-range damage, but they are extremely fragile. She has one of the highest damage output in the game, which makes her an extremely valuable asset in any mission but her fragility discourages solo play.
    The Acrobat: Losing a lot of the long range damage dealing, the Acrobat is an agility and mobility powerhouse that trades in the bow for close combat damage dealing.

    3.The Cleric: Tank, healer and buffer, the cleric boasts a range of buffs and AOE attacks to support the party.
    The Paladin: Though low in damage, the Paladin is a spell casting tank with a plethora of debuffs and buffs.
    The Priest: She is the support Powerhouse of Dragon nest, with the largest arsenal of support spells while still being able to hold her own against incoming threats. She is highly sought after for higher levelled missions.

    4.The Sorceress: Short to medium range spell caster, the Sorceress’ focus is a mix of damage-dealing attacks, status and crowd control abilities.
    The Elementalist: Focusing on elemental magic, this advance class boasts a range of high damage and crowd control magic, but is cursed with one of the lowest heath in the game
    The Mystic: A more balanced alternative to the elementalist, the Mystic’s main focus is crowd control rather than damage, using gravity to throw enemies around like rags.

    It’s no secret that modern MMOs have devolved into slow and repetitive “click on enemy til it dies” grind, I went into Dragon Nest expecting the same but I  was genuinely shocked and surprised at the innovative gameplay elements that has never been done in a MMO before. The magic word here is “action”, DN does away with the traditional click and wait combat system of old and replaces it with a more action orientated combat which puts skill and manual dexterity before anything else. The combat system consist of a reticule and that would be where your attack would land, much like a 3rd person shooter; but unlike a 3rd person shooter, most melee attacks attack in an arc so as to increase the chances of a hit. Standard and Alternate attacks are mapped to the left and right mouse buttons, while special attacks, items, and spells are mapped to the number keys. The game also has a combo counter which you are supposed to string together long combos much like what fighting games has been doing for the past 10 years, so it's really fun to try and do different combination of skills to see what you can come up with. The game also features lots of achievements, so there’s plenty to do.

    The game world is split into various zones, connected by portals. While a little disorienting at times, you'll come to get used to how segmented the world is. Quests themselves are well written, with actual quest lines instead of the generic fetch quest. Combat is limited to each of the instanced areas connected to the player towns, so some players will miss the exploration and feeling of being in one giant world, however those interested in jumping right into a level and tearing baddies up will find this much more accessible. The instanced areas replacing the open fields are a good edition to the genre as a whole as it reduces the chances of kills and loot stealing.

    Each dungeon is structured like a mission, with a main objective and different difficulty level affecting the rarity of loot you’d receive. The missions themselves are pretty straightforward; there are several interconnecting rooms, kill everyone in it to proceed. They usually culminate in a boss fight in the final room. Once completed, the game would give you a ranking depending on your performance and an item.

    Dragon Nest, while in need of a few tweaks, is a really fun and good looking game. Anybody that wants a little more action in their fantasy MMOs would do well to give it a try and see what it has to offer. The game's now in open beta so the fact that this game's already in as good of shape as it is, is a great sign that it has nowhere to go but up.

    You can create an open beta account at http://dn.cherrycredits.com/

    Goodbye Dragonica PH, Hello Dragonica SEA

    After only a year since its commercial launch, Dragonica PH bids farewell.

    If you ever come across Dragonica PH’s website, all the other content has been blocked out/hidden/restricted except for one thing: a painstakingly-long announcement that might not come as a shock to anyone. I figured that after Dragonica KR's early exit, the local server would follow suit.

    Below is what I call their formal goodbye without actually answering any question/issue.

    Slayers,

    It has been more than a year now since we met each other at that quaint port town of Odellia. The early morning sun gleamed gloriously that day, while the breeze blew gently and warmed our sea-parched skins.

    We wandered around the town charmed by its dainty houses and fancy brick roads. The townspeople greeted us amiably – the old woman tending her flowers, the guards who stood pat at their ground, the big blue cat with a megaphone, the traders, the blacksmith, that old man by the bridge.

    A desperate plea from the town chief to save his daughter from wolves pressed us to action and thus our grand adventure began. With our swords, staves, claws, and bows, we overcame waves of stumps, sheep, and orcs until we reached the enchanted Port of Winds.

    It is through our stay in that magical town that we were able to learn more about the great quest that we were about to undertake. It was up to us to stop an all-powerful witch from liberating an ancient evil whose black heart reeks of vengeance and wickedness.

    After clearing out the dangers that lurked beneath the Port of Winds, we ventured through the beaches and caves and found ourselves at the fiery gates of Valid Raeth. Together we defeated the Magma Drake Lavalon.

    Soon we stormed through the pine tree forest and fought the corrupted wizard Mutisha and his powerful golem Aram. Count Van Cliff and his ghastly pet dragon would later block our path. The perils we faced grew bigger and harder as we journeyed across the barren forests and freezing plains.

    We called upon each other for strength to overcome these obstacles, happily sharing the spoils from each victory. Together we found those rare weapons and armors that made us better in carrying out our quest. We laughed at danger, we cried over defeat. We celebrated our triumph and friendship against the odds.

    However, just like everything else, all good things must end.

    It was decided that Dragonica PH would be merged with Dragonica SEA. This does not mean that your Dragonica adventure will now end. This only signals a new chapter in your journey, as you will meet new friends and face bigger and tougher challenges in your quest to stop the evil dragon Elga from wreaking havoc again.

    The Dragonica PH servers will close this Friday, September 16, at 12 noon.

    Meanwhile, the Dragonica Migration Page will be up tomorrow, Tuesday, September 13 and will close on September 21. All compensation packages will be the inserted after the DGN Migration Page is closed.

    Those who intend to migrate to Dragonica SEA will receive this compensation package:

    * 10,000 Cash Point
    * 1-hour Exp Potion x10
    * Gold Boost Potion x10
    * HP Potion (Large)

    However, players who wish to have their account migrated to RAN or Cabal will receive the following compensation:

    Cabal compensation

    * 30D Level Booster
    * 30D Blessing Bead Plus
    * 30D Traditional German Suit (costume)
    * 30D Astral Board X Green
    * Life Capsule (Lv 2) Type B [999ea] x5
    * MP Potion (Lv 2) [999ea] x5
    * 30D Return Core

    RAN compensation

    * 1D Ultima Rosary (non-drop) x7
    * Novice Kit
    * 30D Hera Wing Costume (30D)
    * Husky Pet
    * Advanced Feed (100%) x5
    * 30D Pet Costume

    The RAN/Cabal compensation packages will be ready on or before October 3. On the other hand, the Dragonica SEA compensation package will be ready by October 9.

    Requirements for migration program:

    Dragonica SEA compensation

    • Must have one (1) Level 50 and above character in either realm (Wyvern and Hydra) as of September 5.
    • Must have at least one (1) character in Dragonica SEA server account.
    • Choose to which Dragonica SEA server character you want the compensation package be sent to.

    RAN/Cabal compensation

    • Any account created as of July 11.

    Conversion will now be closed and all cash shop items will be reduced to 10 cash.

    Slayers, we hope that the friendships forged by our adventure will endure. See you all again as we take on new chapter in our unending quest.

    Migrate and have a compensation package? Typical E-games.

    Instead of reading the flowery words in Dragonica PH’s goodbye letter, here’s something to think about instead.

    This would not have happened had E-Games left Dragonica in the care of IAHGames. There’s a reason why IAHGames’ Dragonica is indicated as the “SEA server.” It covers the whole Southeast Asia, and that includes the Philippines. Dragonica SEA never imposed an IP block for the Philippines when Dragonica PH servers were opened up.

    Was there really a need for E-Games to acquire Dragonica? No.

    Yes yes, I do sound like I’m antagonizing E-Games. And no, I’m not a Level Up! Games junkie. Both game publishers have their own accolades and failures. I’m just saying that this would’ve been handled better if Dragonica just had the SEA server in the first place.

    Anyway, there you have it. Dragonica PH is waving goodbye in a few days.

    To Dragonica SEA players, please welcome the PH players with open arms.

    Guide: Cabal Maquinas Outpost

    This is another long overdue dungeon guide for Cabal Online's recently added dungeon, Maquinas Outpost. For those who have read the article and watched the Cabal EU's dungeon run, it has been said that this is just as tough as Forgotten Temple B2F.

    I'd say it all depends on your party and piloting skills (like a pack of level 170+). NO BOTS! Don't brag if you're using bot!

    Unit Production Factory

    On the left side of the dungeon’s start, there is Unit Production Factory Move Console.
    Click the console to move and remove MA-06B Reformo Quadra.

    Monsters will appear while attacking MA-06B Reformo Quadra. From this moment, the timer decreases periodically so remove all monsters quickly. The time limit increases when the monsters are removed. Then break a box, go forward, and remove more monsters. Then a sealed place will open. Enter that place and as you venture forward, you will face MA-07 Directo Quadrupes, which has to be removed also.

    Transmission Area Disk will drop from the boss. Pick it up and move to the next area. The time limit also increases when monsters are removed here.

    Information Center

    Move to the Center Hall.
    Find Information Center Move Console and click it to go there. Then click Information Center Control Console to open a door and enter. Monsters will be there. Removing the front ones will give you more time. Another door will open. Go in and there will be three DB consoles. Click the middle one. After it’s clicked, TA-01b Infinitas Rota will appear.

    Either Capella Secret Disk or Procyon Secret Disk will be dropped when this Rota is removed.

    At this area, the console on the left is Procyon DB Console, and on the right is Capella DB Console.

    Click the console that matches the picked-up disk. This will send you back to the entrance of Information Center. From here, click Command Module Transmission Console. A door will open and monsters will come out. This time, ignore these. Your timer will decrease when you remove these ones. Find a breakable wall, break it, and go inside. Click Center Hall Move Console there.

    ARM-05 Arma Audibit will appear. Remove it and open the box.

    After removing this boss, proceed with the Secret Disk quest. It doesn’t matter whether you do the quest before or after the boss removal.

    The left console is Capella and the right one is Procyon. You must click the check line twice to complete the quest. After completing the Nation Information Transmission quest by clicking the check line twice, click Center Hall Move Console to go back there.

    Laboratory

    Find Laboratory Move Console in Center Hall and move to Laboratory. Then click Unit Modification Laboratory Access Console to unseal a closed area. Remove monsters that appear there and this will increase your timer and open another sealed area. Ignore the monsters from the next area (the center of Laboratory), because they will decrease the timer. Remove UMD-01R Replicaum and UMD-02R Replicaum. Then pick up Organism Experimentation Area Access Disk and go back to the entrance of Laboratory.

    Click Organism Laboratory Access Console. A door will open when you remove monsters that appear from clicking the console. There are seven consoles inside. Choosing the correct option will grant you more time.

    For Console 1, select “Let’s Pass”.
    For Console 2, select “Turn off Console’s Power Device”.
    For Console 3, select “Destroy the Console”.
    For Console 4, select “Turn off Console’s Power Device”.
    For Console 5, select “Destroy the Console”.
    For Console 6, select “Let’s Pass”.
    For Console 7, select “Activate the Console normally”.

    Remove the monsters that appear after pressing a Console here. A door will open. Remove ARM-04 Hyper Trikrus. A warning message will appear and so will another boss, UMD-03B Perfectio Pluma.

    When the Pluma is removed, a door will open. Go in and then remove another boss, FPTA-01 Kustodi Flight.

    Pick up Mainframe Access Disk from this boss and run back to Laboratory entrance. Click Center Hall Move Console to return there. Then move to Mainframe after clicking Mainframe Move Console there.

    Mainframe

    After arriving at Mainframe, break the electric wall. Then UMD-04 Fuse Digitorum will appear.

    After removing this Digitorum, click Mainframe Console far inside the area. There will be three bosses that will appear successively. The first one is MF-01 Eins Frame.

    The second one is MF-02 Zwei Frame. Beware of its stun attacks.

    The final boss is MF-03 Drei Frame. It looks angry with its red face. Especially be careful.

    Have you removed the third one? Break the box. Then end the dungeon by clicking Mainframe Console.
