Eligium: The Chosen One Is Coming!

Eligium - The Chosen One is coming to the Philippines! During Domination 6 (April 21, 2012), the mmorpg from Shanda Games (the same guys who brought you Dragon Nest), has been revealed.

Level Up! by Playweb Games together with Shanda Games and Goldcool Games will bring the massive PVP fantasy game locally. Like what I've said before, one of the greatest features of this game is its unique pet & mount system wherein players will have to take care of their pet eggs in order to have a good mount (ala tamagotchi). Another feature that everyone should look out is its guild vs guild and faction vs faction where 200 players can wage war (rumored).

Eligium: The Chosen One is an MMORPG with very unique elements and guarantees several hours of enjoyable gameplay. Its massive Guild vs. Guild and Faction vs. Faction PvP battles, enormous world map to explore, several instances and a large amount of quests make Eligium a game which will keep you absorbed and entertained on your path to become “The Chosen One”.

Behind Eligium’s average looking graphics and generic combat are some truly interesting and unique features to be found in the game. A few of the aforementioned features include: a unique mount- and pet-system which lets you raise your mounts and pets from infancy, after hatching them from their eggs, a skill mastery system which makes your skills stronger every time you use them, several class advancements (called class tiers in the game) and large Guild vs. Guild or Faction vs. Faction PvP battles.

Download the Eligium PH CBT Client today via the link below courtesy of Level Up! and Playweb Games:

Note: Wait for further announcements about the CBT date. Gamers are advised NOT to install the game client until CBT date is announced. Stay tuned for more updates!

Level Up and E-Games: Merged to Expand Market

Two of the Philippines' leading online game companies - Level Up! Inc. (LUI) and IP E-Game Ventures Inc. (E-Games), have formally merged their respective online gaming businesses on May 8, 2012. As the most dominant publisher in the Philippines - Playweb Games Inc. (PWG), the union of the two now establishes LUI's associated game publishing company, accounting for nearly 80 percent of the Philippine online games market with 41 million registered users and 3 million active users. The online game business of them is expected to double the distribution capacity after merging.

The merging of the online game businesses of LUI and E-Games is expected to double the distribution capacity for the already ubiquitous Level Up! pre-paid card. The wider reach and unparalleled availability of the Level Up! pre-paid card has prompted LUI to open up its doors to more payment gateway partners. Due to the low penetration rate of credit cards in the Philippines, pre-paid cards remain to be the preferred mode of payment for Filipino gamers.

"By joining forces with IP E- Games Ventures, Level Up! can now present a more comprehensive online gaming experience to players, which is always our top priority," said Ben Colayco, founder of Level Up! "This newly merged entity will push our online game business further into the global games market and cement Level Up! as the partner of choice, not only for publishing, but for payment channeling as well."

Hopefully along with the goal of expanding their market is their commitment to eliminating third party programs and providing quality customer service.

MERGED! Level Up! Buys E-Games

This has got to be the most surprising news in the local MMO industry to date! Happy valentine's day, Level Up! Let's show them some love as they have finally bought out the competition!

The two gaming companies have apparently merged today, February 14, 2012. All E-Games titles will be transferred to LevelUp! Games after the merge.

In a statement released in Philippine Stock Exchange, details of the circular indicated:

IP E-Game Ventures Inc. (E-Games), the listed online gaming subsidiary
(PSE:EG) of IP Ventures, Inc., and Level Up! Inc. (LUI), have reached an
agreement to merge their Philippine online game publishing businesses. On
February 14, the parties signed an agreement stating that most of E-Game’s titles
and assets relating to its game publishing business will be transferred to LUI and
the publishing operations of said titles will be merged into LUI’s associated online
game publishing company, Playweb Games Inc.

In exchange, E-Games will receive equity in LUI, a commercial interest in Playweb
Games Inc. (game publisher and operator of all game titles and services under the
Level Up! brand in the Philippines), and a cash consideration. The parties shall
work in good faith to complete the deal. The appropriate disclosures and
comprehensive statements shall be made at the appropriate time.

E-Games and LUI, as a merged entity, is expected to strategically benefit both
companies as a result of future operational synergies and savings.

Not only does this mean a merger of two companies, but a merge of the two communities who have been long-time rivals in different games. How LevelUp! will handle the two communities is still purely speculation today. But for sure, it’s going to be a rough ride for PlayWeb Games Inc. Nonetheless, congratulations on the merge!

My Thoughts On This:

It is not exactly a big surprise on my part. Having watched the company since I left it last year, I witnessed how their manpower shrunk and the number of their games said hello and goodbye in a matter of months. It was a blessing waiting to happen - that the company be salvaged so that the employees can keep their jobs.

There really won't be any problem with regards to the LU and EG communities merging. The Philippine gaming community is a small one, with players and guilds transferring from one game to another, playing at least one MMO per company.

Perhaps the only sad part here is that with LU being the MMO colossus in the country, would an online gaming monopoly once again surface?
